Free instant sound buttons, made in Australia
Sound Buttons Australia is a free soundboard full of meme buttons and instant sound buttons. Every button plays the moment you tap it, with no ads popping over your screen and nothing to install. This guide explains how it all works.
What are sound buttons?
Sound buttons are on-screen buttons that play a short sound when you press them – just like the big red buttons on a game show. Tap one and you instantly hear an airhorn, a drum roll, a sad trombone or a kookaburra laughing. They are also called instant sound buttons, meme buttons or a soundboard.
People use them to react in voice chats, add sound effects to videos, liven up a classroom quiz, or simply to make their mates laugh. Because each sound is only a few seconds long, they load fast and play straight away on phones, tablets, Chromebooks and computers.
What is a meme soundboard?
A meme soundboard is a collection of the sounds that have become internet jokes: the deep boom that follows a shocking moment, the awkward crickets after a bad joke, the metal pipe clang, the bonk and the tiny sad violin. Everyone knows what they mean, so one tap says more than a whole sentence. Our meme buttons page has the full set, and the funny soundboard collects the silliest ones.
How to use our sound buttons
- Play: tap any round button. Tap it again to restart the sound.
- Auto Play: press ▶ Auto Play above a group of buttons to hear every sound one after another.

Sound buttons unblocked at school
Sound Buttons Australia is a plain, light website with no heavy scripts, so it loads quickly on school Chromebooks and slow wifi. Teachers use the classroom sounds – correct answer ding, wrong buzzer, drum roll and school bell – for quizzes and rewards, and our unblocked sound buttons page collects the school-friendly picks. For a quick brain break, try our free games: Outback Rally and Whack-a-Button and Sound Memory. Whether you can use the site at school is up to your school's rules.
Why an Australian soundboard?
Most soundboards are made for everyone and no one. We're building the best soundboard for Australians: all the global meme sounds you know, plus local sounds you won't find anywhere else – the footy final siren, the pedestrian crossing beeps, tram bells, ute horns and the cricket crowd. Our animal sounds page brings the bush to your screen with real recordings of kookaburras, magpies, cockatoos and cicadas. Find them all in the Aussie soundboard.
Are the sounds free and safe?
Yes. Every sound is free to play, share and download. Our recordings are public domain (CC0) or made by us, and the original recordist is credited on each sound's page. That means you can use them in videos, streams and school projects without copyright worries. We keep the site clean: no swearing, no pop-ups and no sign-up. Parents can also point younger children to the kids soundboard.
