A true blue Aussie racing game
Outback Rally puts you behind the wheel of a red ute on a long stretch of red-dirt road, past the spinifex and the yellow kangaroo warning signs. Every part of the race uses a real sound from Sound Buttons Australia – the start beeps, the ute horn, the coin pickup and the victory fanfare – so you can play any of them again with the buttons above.
It runs right in your browser with no download, so it loads quickly on phones, tablets and school Chromebooks. Want more? Try the Aussie sounds or head back to the sound buttons.
Frequently asked questions
How do I play Outback Rally?
Press Play and wait for the start beeps. Steer your ute left and right to dodge the roadworks and cattle, drive over coins and green boost arrows, and press HORN whenever a kangaroo hops onto the road. The race lasts 60 seconds and the road gets faster as you go.
What are the controls?
On a computer, use the left and right arrow keys (or A and D) to change lanes and the space bar (or H) to honk. On a phone or tablet, tap the left or right side of the road, or use the ◀ and ▶ buttons, and tap the big HORN button to honk.
Why do I need to honk at the kangaroos?
Just like on a real country road, a kangaroo can bound out in front of you at any time. A quick toot of the ute horn scares it back into the bush – you score 30 points and the roo is safe. If you forget, you skid to a stop and lose your speed.
How is the score worked out?
You get points for distance, 10 points for every coin and 30 points for every kangaroo you scare off the road. Crashing slows you right down, so you travel less distance.
Is Outback Rally free and unblocked?
Yes. It's free, needs no download or sign-up, and is light enough to run on school Chromebooks and phones. Whether you can play at school depends on your school's rules.
